To promote Laser sailing/racing at White Rock Lake the Dallas Laser Fleet (Fleet) provides two Lasers as “Loaner Boats” for use by Registered Skippers (RS).  The Fleet has found Loaner Boats to be a great way to get introduced to Lasers or to the racing scene on White Rock Lake.

The Laser is a challenging performance-oriented single-handed racing sailboat.  Skippers must possess prior experience in the Laser or similar performance sailboats as a skipper, particularly when it comes to righting a capsized boat.  Fleet representatives reserve the right to refuse the use of a Loaner Boat to a prospective RS based on experience and/or conditions for that day.  The Fleet representative may recommend that the prospective Registered Skipper return on a day where conditions might be more suitable.  It is the goal of the Fleet and the Loaner Boats to offer easy access to Lasers to new skippers.

Use of the Loaner Boats is limited to Wednesday night racing from April thru October and Saturday morning racing throughout the year. Each time a RS uses a Loaner Boat a Fleet member host will orient them to the club, the boat, the Fleet, the racing and etc.  A Fleet member must be present when a Loaner Boat is used.

Neither Corinthian Sailing Club or the Laser Fleet rent boats out to the public.

To continue extended access to the loaner boats after the trial period, it is expected that the Registered Skippers (RS) will join the Corinthian Sailing Club as an Associate Member as well as become a member of the Laser Fleet.  Fleet members can assist new laser sailors in locating boats for purchase.
